At the library - By Jen Alvino

The Windham Public Library's hours are changing! Beginning September 8, 2014 the library will be open Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The new schedule will ensure a consistent level of service and adequate staffing as the library prepares to participate in a new service called Minerva.

The statewide library consortium, Minerva, offers access to more than six million items from over fifty Maine libraries. In order to provide this service the Windham Public Library has to be open Monday through Friday and provide staff to handle the materials coming in from and going out to other libraries in the consortium. Taking advantage of advanced, innovative regional library services for our patrons means we need to make some changes. Staff at the library have been working hard to prepare for these changes. We look forward to sharing these exciting new services. Watch our website and Facebook page for more information later this year!
