North Windham Union Church receives Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors award

Each year Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors recognizes a local organization or business with a special ‘Helpful Neighbor Award’ for outstanding support of the Windham Neighbors’ mission. This year, the award was presented to the North Windham Union Church UCC to recognize contributions made possible through the church’s benefit concert series Music with a Mission. The church donates a portion of the proceeds from these monthly concerts to area non-profits. Over its first two years, the church hosted 18 concerts that provided over $15,000 for mission support to the church and other community organizations. Proceeds from four of those concerts were donated to Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

The dedicated volunteers at Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors provide fuel assistance to people in need throughout the community. When he presented the ‘Helpful Neighbor Award’ award to the church on a recent Sunday, WNHN President, Bill Diamond stated, “North Windham Union Church has always been a great community partner, but the financial support provided through the Music with a Mission concerts to many local non-profits deserves this special recognition. Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors is proud to present the 2014 ‘Helpful Neighbor Award’, recognizing that every dollar donated goes directly to support our neighbors who need fuel assistance right here in our home town.”

In accepting the award for NWUC, Jim McBride said, “We are thrilled to receive this recognition celebrating the success of MWAM. Through this concert series we get to enjoy some fabulous music from local performers, welcome more of the community into fellowship with our church and help support many deserving local non-profits. It’s especially gratifying to help Windham families in need of fuel assistance through the great folks at WNHN.”

On Saturday, November 1st at 7 p.m., the very talented Don Campbell Band will present An Evening of Dan Fogelberg Music at the North Windham Union Church.
