Windham Town Council elects new chair, makes committee appointments

With two incumbent At-Large members and a new councilor sworn in to represent the West District following this month’s municipal election, the Windham Town Council set about the task of electing a new chairperson and making new committee appointments for the coming year during a meeting on Nov. 9.

Councilor Jarrod Maxfield was elected as the new council chairperson, succeeding David Nadeau in that role. The council also voted Mark Morrison to serve as vice-chair and Ed Ohmott as the council parliamentarian.

Maxfield has lived in Windham since 2011 and owns a computer technology business. He has represented Windham’s North District since 2016.

The council also chose Nadeau to serve on the Finance Committee along with Councilors Morrison and Nicholas Kalogerakis. Elected to serve on the Appointments Committee are Councilors Bill Reiner, Kalogerakis and Ohmott.

Kalogerakis, who represents Windham’s South District, will join Maxfield in serving as the council’s representatives to the Windham Economic Development Board.

Councilor Brett Jones, who represents Windham’s East District, was elected as the council’s representative to the Public Easement Committee. 

Newly elected Councilor Bill Reiner was elected to serve on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, while Maxfield was selected to serve on the Highland Lake Leadership Team.

Nadeau was elected as the council’s representative to the Long Range Planning Committee, while Jones was elected to serve on the Natural Resources Advisory Committee.

Ohmott and Morrison will represent the council on the Marijuana License Fee Committee, while Morrison will serve on the Energy Advisory Committee. <
