American Legion honors members

WINDHAM – On December 7th, American Legion Field-Allen Post 148 hosted a membership recognition dinner at the Windham Veterans Center.  The dinner provided by post members included 30 pounds of baked ham, potato casserole, string bean casserole, a large pot of beans and variety of desserts for 35 attendees.  After a formal opening, new member recognition certificates were presented to post members that included: Harley Clark, Richard Buxton, Bill Cassidy, Jeff Cook, Norm Devonshire, Norm Sear, John Kepple, Larry Spires, Richard Graves, Keri Karsten, Ralph Miele and David Donn.

Five additional members were not available for the evening’s events.

The above 2016-17 new membership group is the largest the post has had the pleasure of receiving in the post’s history.  The recognition ceremony continued with certificates of longevity and post support with the following members receiving awards: Rod Voisine, 20 years continuous service; William Johnson, 31 years of service; Roger Timmons, 37 years of service; and WWII vet, Don Rogers, 58 years of service. Don Rogers is a multiple time Past Commander of the post. Not in attendance but recognized were: Ed Ovington (20 Years), William Chipman (20 years), Charlie Cragin (25 years) and John Boyden (37 years).  The evening’s events were well received. There are plans to make this an annual event.
