Local attends American Legion convention to keep tradition

At the 100th Anniversary Convention of the American Legion held in Minneapolis last week, Dave As delegates, Dave sat on the Americanism and Youth Committee for the Legion and Lin on the Chaplain and Program Committees for the ALA.
Tanguay and wife Lin were part of a 17-member delegation, representing the Department of Maine.

Dave has been active with the American Legion, Field-Allen Post 148 in Windham, for 24 years and is a Past Post Commander of the Post. He is currently the Post Adjutant and 2nd District Adjutant. Lin has been a member of the Unit for a year.

The Convention was held in Minneapolis as a tribute to the first national convention held there in the spring 1919. 

The American Legion will be celebrating its 100th year with a variety of activities and events until Veteran’s Day of 2019. 

In Maine the 100th Anniversary celebration will continue at the Maine Military Museum in South Portland on Saturday, Sept 15th with the arrival of the new American Legion National Commander, Bret Reistad.  

The American Legion 2nd District, Dept of Maine will be hosting the event. National Commander Reistad will also be visiting other Posts in the area as well as the Department of Maine Headquarters in Winslow and the VA Hospital at Togus.
