Dr. Elston honors breast cancer awareness month one smile at a time

October is breast cancer awareness month. Dr Elston feels women affected by this disease “deserve a reason to smile” and would like to show her support of their courage and struggle by offering 25 free teeth whitening treatments in the month of October to women who are battling or who have survived this diseased.

The procedure takes only 20 to 30 minutes with a one week at home follow up.  It is not necessary to be a patient at her office to receive this service.  “We want to create more awareness and help those affected feel good about their smiles.”

You can contact Alex to get more info or to sign up for the service. Call 892-3200 or email alex.elston@outlook.com.

“In 2014, it is estimated that among U.S. women there will be:
  • 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer (This includes new cases of primary breast cancer among survivors, but not recurrence of original breast cancer among survivors.)
  • 62,570 new cases of in situ breast cancer (This includes ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS).
  • 40,000 breast cancer deaths”
In Maine, it is estimated that between 2006 and 2010, 127 women out of 100,000 were diagnosed with new cases of breast cancer. In that same time period, the death rate was 21 women per 100,000.
