The
Town of Raymond is surveying it’s business owners to discover the obstacles
they face and what the business climate is in Raymond. The survey was created
by the Economic Development Task Force, which consist of seven residents,
including State representative Mike McClellan.
“This
is an excellent opportunity for the business community to relay their concerns
to the town,” said Danielle Loring, Town of Raymond’s executive assistant.
There
are approximately 120 businesses, including home occupations in Raymond. About
60 of them are free standing businesses that are in and out of the residential
area, according to Loring.
“We
hope to find out where Raymond is doing well and what needs improving. What I
have seen so far is that people in the business community are extremely proud
of Raymond in terms of its natural beauty and support from local government
staff, but feel that Raymond needs to improve some of its procedures because
these can be very cost prohibitive,” said Loring.
The
questions range from statistical information to how friendly would you rate the
code office. There are 36 questions, some asking for additional comments and others
are yes and no questions.
Loring
also suggested that some businesses feel that policies might be lacking in
terms of offering financial support. “I am excited to see where this goes
because there are often things that we do not realize are happening and this
will give voice to those who are most effected,” she said.
