The Windham Eagle organized an advertising campaign in the December 23, 2016 issue that served two purposes - to send out holiday greeting wishes to the community as well as to raise money for the local Neighbors Helping Neighbors organization. For every ad sold, $5 was donated to the group. A total of $235 was raised and given to the cause.
Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a 501 (c3) non-profit was founded in October 2007 and is made up of Windham volunteers who have come together to provide one time emergency assistance to those Windham residents who require immediate heating fuel. They focus their resources towards those people who have fallen through the cracks and either don't qualify or are in a bureaucratic process of waiting for assistance from other entities. Neighbors Helping Neighbors is funded totally through donations and 100 percent of funds received go directly to people who we assist.
