Jordan
Bay Animal Hospital, 1242 Roosevelt Trail in Raymond, will offer a rabies
clinic this Saturday, January 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. Jordan Bay encourages
pet owners to take advantage of the discounted $10 cash-only fee to make sure
all dogs and cats are up to date on their rabies vaccines. No appointment is
necessary and the clinic is open to the public.
Kim
Riddell, practice manager at the animal hospital, stated that those who plan to
bring their pet in are encouraged to bring paperwork that might show their dog
or cat is up-to-date. The up-to-date pets will receive a three-year vaccine
while overdue pets will receive a vaccine for one year.
“We want to be part of the solution
for making sure rabies vaccines are received by as many pets as possible,”
Riddell explained. Thus, all pet owners are welcomed to visit Saturday’s clinic
and it is not reserved only for those who live in the Town of Raymond.
For those who do live in the Town of Raymond, town officials will be at the
event to provide the opportunity to register their dogs before the January 31st
deadline. The late fee for non-registered dogs is $25.
This clinic is a service to the community
and is not intended to be a money-making project. “We don’t make a profit,”
Riddell said. “The $10 fee we charge pays for the vaccine, needles and the
overhead for running the rabies clinic. We pay three of our technicians to help
us at the clinic and don’t schedule regular appointments for our office – we
close the office to run this event.”
The animal hospital requests that pets
be brought in on a leash or in a carrier. For more information, please contact
