Chestnut Hill,
Mass. (January 14, 2014) – The Pine Manor College Board of Trustees announced
today that E. Joseph Lee II, Ph.D. has been appointed as the college’s 11th
president.
Dr. Lee, a recognized leader in higher education with more than 35 years of experience in the field, was named interim president of Pine Manor College in July of 2013. He previously served as president of St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine from 2007-2011, and Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. During his distinguished career, Dr. Lee has served in senior management positions at several other colleges.
“We’re pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Lee as president of Pine Manor College. His commitment to academic excellence and student-focused learning, along with his substantial management expertise, make him ideally suited to lead our institution during this period of growth,” said Serena Strazzulla Kokjer Greening, chair of the Pine Manor Board of Trustees. “His vision for the liberal arts education – one that encourages academic and personal growth, community service and the practical application of knowledge – embodies the qualities that have made Pine Manor College a truly transformative experience for students for more than 100 years.”
“I’m proud and honored to serve as president of Pine Manor College, a place where students are truly encouraged to achieve their full academic and personal potential,” said Dr. Lee. “As president, I am committed to building on the rich traditions of Pine Manor. We will focus, expand and enrich the academic experience, increase enrollment, and create and renew partnerships, internships and philanthropic connections.”
In just six months since becoming interim president, Dr. Lee has already launched an ambitious and aggressive effort to increase enrollment, engage prospective supporters, establish collaborative relationships and achieve a return to financial stability.
“I am tremendously excited about the opportunity in front of us,” added Dr. Lee. “Pine Manor has so much to offer students – a supportive and intimate learning environment, a beautiful campus located just miles from downtown Boston, active and engaged faculty, and the unique opportunity for a broad undergraduate foundation that provides practical, real-life experience.”
Dr. Lee received his B.A. and M.A. from St. Michael’s College, and his Ph.D. from Boston College. He resided in Windham until this announcement.
