In
January, the library announced office remodeling plans, in response to a funding
offer from a supportive anonymous donor. To create a more open space, walls will
be removed and the lighting improved. New cabinetry will add improved storage,
and staff will be welcoming patrons from a redesigned circulation desk.
The
Board of Trustees also saw the opportunity to remodel its restroom during this
renovation project. Another generous
donor proposed a Challenge Grant of $2000, and the Raymond Village Library met
the challenge goal in 7 weeks. The $2000 will be matched, so $4000 is now available
for creating a more accessible space. The restroom will be expanded, plumbing relocated,
new door hardware and grab bars installed.
“The
support of the library community has been tremendous,” said Board President
Sheila Bourque. “The caring shown by our town residents was heartwarming. They
really came through. The Board is dedicated to earning the trust they have
placed in us.”
“The
library is dedicated to providing access to all of its patrons,” said Library
Director Allison Griffin. “Our Board has
worked hard to make this project successful.”
