Youngs, a father of two, says that he grew up in a hardworking family. His father was an auto body repair instructor, and his mother is an elementary and special education teacher. Growing up in Sheldon, Iowa, Youngs would spend much of his free time outdoors, playing sports and meeting new people.

Throughout college and his work career, Youngs has continued to seek out new people and opportunities to learn. Whether it was owning a retail store, managing a bar, coaching high school golf, or now being a full-time parent, he says that he is always looking to gain a new perspective from the people around him.

Youngs moved to Windham in 2013 with his wife, Sarah. They said their main reasons in choosing to move to Windham were the school system, and the more rural feel of the town. He says that both of these factors have now become primary motivators in his decision to run for a seat in the Maine House of Representatives.

“Strengthening our public education and ensuring responsible growth are priorities for everyone in Windham,” said Youngs, who has a degree in sports management from Johnson and Wales University.

He said that community involvement and feedback are key to his legislative positions and he’s committed to keeping an open line of communication with all community members.

“We are all experiencing the pains of volatile energy prices, increasing property taxes, and the financial challenges of making ends meet,” Youngs said. “We need to work as a community to actually provide sustainable solutions to these problems.”

Maine House of Representatives District 106 represents part of Windham and the seat has been held by Republican Barbara Bagshaw of Windham since she was elected in November 2022. <
