Nangle running for re-election to Maine State Senate

Tim Nangle has announced his campaign for re-election to the Maine State Senate in District 26.

“I have had the distinct honor of serving our region in the State Senate for the past four years,” said Senator Nangle. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done to lower costs for Maine families, protect access to quality and affordable health care, invest in our schools, including career and technical education, promote local control, and expand job training opportunities and apprenticeships. We are at a crossroads in our state and in our nation. I’m running for re-election to keep putting my neighbors first and delivering real results and common-sense solutions for the people of Senate District 26.”

During his time in the State Senate, Nangle has led efforts to strengthen consumer protections, protect Maine’s lakes and waterways, and stand up for working families.

He was the lead sponsor of Maine’s bipartisan “click-to-cancel” law (LD 1642), stopping companies from trapping consumers in hard-to-end subscriptions by ensuring that if you can sign up online, you can cancel online. Nangle also led and passed legislation giving towns stronger tools to enforce shoreland zoning laws and protect lakes like Sebago from costly environmental damage. In addition, Nangle was the lead sponsor of LD 1145, establishing new protections for residents of mobile home parks to help prevent displacement and keep housing affordable in local communities.

Nangle holds a lifetime 100 percent rating from Planned Parenthood of Maine and has consistently voted to defend reproductive rights and freedoms. He also has a 100 percent lifetime rating from the Maine AFL-CIO and has been a strong and reliable champion for working Mainers.

Nangle is a resident of Windham and previously served six years on the Windham Town Council. He began his public service career at age 17 as a police and fire dispatcher in his hometown, later serving as a reserve police officer, Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic. He retired in 2017 after 27 years of service with the City of Portland.

He is currently serving his second term in the Maine State Senate, representing District 26 communities of Casco, Frye Island, Raymond, Windham, and part of Westbrook. <
