NSB team members assist in spring cleanup and donate $5K to Riding To The Top

From cleaning stalls and garden beds to digging up roots on the trails, Norway Savings Bank team members spent a day at Riding To The Top (RTT) in Windham on May 7, giving back to an organization that has given support, healing, and hope to children and adults with disabilities since 1993.

Riding To The Top is a non-profit dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of those it serves through equine-assisted services, including therapeutic riding, therapeutic carriage driving, equine-assisted learning, and hippotherapy. The RTT staff includes certified instructors, specially trained volunteers, and a herd of exceptional horses.

Clients range in age from 3 to 80 and are referred by doctors, therapists, social workers, teachers, family members, and friends.

During its visit to the RTT facility in Windham, NSB team members delivered a check for $5,000 to Riding to The Top in gratitude for its incredible impact and it was part of ongoing support for the organization by Norway Savings Bank. Over the last 20 years, NSB has contributed more than $160,000 to RTT.

“Riding To The Top has formed special connections between their clients and horses, and the wider community,” said Dan Walsh, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “When you visit the riding center, you see how transformative the experience is for entire families, and it’s heartwarming to see the kindness of RTT staff translate into growing self-confidence in the riders. According to Walsh, through financial assistance, sponsorships, and volunteerism, Norway Savings Bank is proud to expand possibilities for non-profit organizations in Maine and New Hampshire, including over 400 charitable contributions and more than 3,050 volunteer hours put in by NSB team members in 2025.

Each year, RTT provides nearly 3,000 client visits, awards more than $45,000 in direct scholarships, educates over 200 volunteers, and provides enrichment for students through a large number of field trips to the organization. The non-profit 501(c) (3) is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of children and adults with disabilities through equine assisted services.

RTT was founded in 1993 and operates a 50-acre farm on Lilac Drive in Windham. It is a Premier Accredited Center with PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), the international organization that set quality and safety standards for the industry.
