St. Anthony of Padua Parish honors youth leader Morey

Nealie Morey, a 2026 graduate of Windham High School, has been presented with the St. Carlo Apostle of the Eucharist Award by St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish.

This award is given annually to a graduating senior from the parish who exemplifies the virtues and legacy of St. Carlo Acutis through friendship and kindness toward all, exceptional compassion and empathy toward others, devotion to the Virgin Mary, the Eucharist and family life, and serving as a positive faith-filled role model to peers.

She was given the award by the Rev. Lou Phillips during a special ceremony held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Windham on June 28.


Phillips said that Morey has faithfully served St. Anthony of Padua Parish in numerous capacities, most notably through her more than 10 years of leadership in coordinating the Operation Summer Snack Project, an initiative that supports children, families and older adults experiencing food insecurity.

He said that Morey has also demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment within the parish’s Youth Ministry Program.

“Her dedication to service, faith and leadership makes her a most deserving recipient of this honor,” Phillips said.

As the winner of this year’s St. Carlo Apostle of the Eucharist Award, Morey was presented with a hand-painted wooden statuette of Saint Carlo Acutis mounted on a stand with a personalized plaque. She will also be recognized on a plaque in the St. Carlo Acutis Veneration Chapel at St. Anne Catholic Church in Gorham.

Morey will attend Saint Joseph’s College to major in nursing and compete on the school’s track and field team.

She also was the recipient of the Peter Connolly Scholarship; Windham Dentistry LLC Scholarship; Windham Maine PTA Scholarship; Windham Raymond Athletic Boosters Scholarship; Windham Republican Town Committee Scholarship; and the Peter E. Connolly Award. <
