Boy Scout Troop 800 serve ice cream |
The
community of Raymond showed up in a big way to show their gratitude for the
investment that the soldiers are making in our community at the Raymond
Elementary School.
“Our
students welcomed the soldiers with hundreds of cards of thanks and pictures
that they have been making all spring,” stated Allisa Messer, organizer of the
event and the new playground efforts. “The soldiers have graciously taught the
kids about the equipment and some of the process of what it is taking to create
the new safe and secure playground for them. They even had a little fun on the
last day of school by spraying the kids with their water truck hose!”
With
the generous donations from: The Dugout, Gifford's Ice Cream, Dairy Queen in
Windham, Hannaford, Reny's, Walmart, and the Rotary; the Ice Cream Social was held on the
playground site on that Sunday afternoon to say thank you.
Raymond
Boy Scout Troop 800 was gracious enough to step forward and serve our military
members and their families, as well as community members who had come to offer
their gratitude and see the progress the military has made. A big thank you to
the Maine National Guard for not only serving our country, but investing in our
town and making a difference in our kids’ lives!
