The department was notified on Monday, July 10 by the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regional office and Rep. Chellie
Pingree’s office, that they were awarded the federal grant to replace a tanker
fire engine.
The current fire engine is a 1989 truck that was
converted from an over-the-road tractor trailer unit to
its current tanker pumper engine in the early 1990’s. The current fire truck tanker has over 400,000 miles on it.

The Raymond Fire Rescue Department had agreed to commit
more than the required matching funds to make the project more desirable in
this highly competitive grant category. The total federal money awarded is
$262,000.
The department would like to thank Deputy Chief Cathy
Gosselin who coordinated the grant writing efforts.
