Tip-A-Firefighter event to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association. Local firefighters will serve as “celebrity waiters” at Applebee’s, and 100-percent of their tips will be donated directly to Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), aiming to make a difference in the lives of local children faced with the challenges of muscle-debilitating diseases.
The event will occur this Saturday, June 8 from 5 p.m. to 8
p.m. at the Applebee’s of Windham, 1 Amato Drive.
Since 1954, The International Association of Fire Fighters
have shown an unwavering commitment to defeating muscular dystrophy and related
life-threatening diseases. Funds are raised primarily through MDA’s signature
Fill the Boot® campaign, in which member fire fighters gather on
streets across the country collecting money in their boots from neighbors and
passersby. Dollars collected in boots throughout the decades are translating
into game-changing research progress today.
Apple American Group, the largest
Applebee’s franchisee in the country who own and operate the participating
Applebee’s locations throughout New England, pledges to assist those less
fortunate and support those institutions that enhance the quality of life in
the communities it serves. Each restaurant stays engaged in its neighborhood
through participation in community events, donations, sponsorships and
fundraisers to help local organizations grow and flourish and takes care of
their own team members through the Flynn Restaurant Group Family Fund.
