The
Windham Town Council is pleased to announce the finalist for the position of
Town Manager. The finalist was selected from a field of 21 applicants in a
national search.
John
Mauro is a Maine native who grew up in Auburn, Maine. He graduated from Edward
Little High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies
from Middlebury College in Vermont. He is currently serving as the Chief
Sustainability Officer for the Auckland Council in New Zealand. In this senior
leadership role, for an organization of 10,000 employees serving over 1.6
million people, Mauro and his team developed the 30-year strategic plan and
development strategy for the city and region. Prior to his time in Auckland, Mauro
worked in the Seattle, WA area including time as a Policy Analyst in the
Seattle Mayor’s office.
On
Thursday June 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the public is invited to an
informal “Meet and Greet” gathering at the Windham Town Hall to meet Mauro.
On
Friday June 21, Mauro will have the opportunity to view municipal facilities
and meet employees and also have an interview with the town’s department heads.
The Town Council will then conduct an additional interview with Mauro in the
evening.
It
is anticipated that a final decision on a new Town Manager will be announced
the following week.
